XRPL NFT Rarity Checker & Collection Analytics

Rarity ranks an NFT against the rest of its collection by how few others share its traits. xrpl.to shows the rank on each NFT and the share of every trait on its collection page. How the ranks are worked out, and what else to check.

Four ways to score rarity

Take a collection of 1,000 NFTs and one NFT with these traits:

TraitValueNFTs with itShare
BackgroundGold202%
EyesLaser15015%
HatNone40040%
MethodWhat it measuresThis NFT
Rarest traitThe share of its rarest trait.2%
AverageThe average share across its traits.19%
StatisticalThe chance of drawing all its traits together: the shares multiplied.0.12%
ScoreEach trait adds more the fewer NFTs share it (total ÷ count), and the points add up.59.2
Lower is rarer for the first three, higher for the score. Every NFT in the collection is scored the same way and ranked from 1.

The rarest-trait method rewards one standout trait; the statistical method rewards an NFT whose traits are all uncommon. A collection’s page on xrpl.to ranks with one of these methods; for collections listed on xrp.cafe, it shows xrp.cafe’s rank.

What to check besides rarity

  • Recent sales. What buyers actually paid, against the floor, the cheapest current listing.
  • Owners. How many wallets hold the collection, and how much of it the largest hold.
  • Volume over 7 and 30 days. A collection nobody trades is hard to sell out of.
  • Scam flags and the issuer. A copy of a known collection has a different issuer address (buying guide).

All of it is on each collection’s page under NFT collections; the market as a whole: NFT sales and volume.

Questions

How is NFT rarity calculated?
From the traits in each NFT’s metadata: a trait few NFTs in the collection share counts as rare. The methods differ in how they combine an NFT’s traits; each produces a rank from 1, the rarest.
Does rarity decide an NFT’s price?
It is one reason a buyer pays more; sales history shows whether buyers in that collection actually do. Some collections trade on art or a single trait more than on rank.
Why do two sites show different ranks?
They use different methods or count a different set of NFTs, for example before or after burns. Compare the rank with the method behind it.
